  • Restless leg syndrome – excessive leg movement preventing sleep
  • Shortness of breath

What To Expect During A Sleep Study?

Some tests are performed in the comforts of your own home. Other test may require an overnight stay in the sleep center.

The Home Sleep Test (HST) begins by you visiting Carrus to pick up your HST device. Our qualified staff will review with you the simple process of using the equipment in the comforts of your home. When the study is complete and the equipment is returned, a Carrus board certified sleep physician will review your test. Items reviewed are your effort of breathing, oxygen saturation, pulse rate and snoring. The HST is a good screening tool for breathing disorders during sleep. Sometimes, a HST is the only sleep study that will be needed. However, depending on the findings of your HST, your physician may recommend a sleep center follow up study to thoroughly diagnose your sleep disorder and equipment needs.

The In-lab Sleep Test (day or night) can often make a patient feel apprehensive. To make you feel more at home, our bedrooms are spacious, comfortable and relaxing. The bedroom is equipped with a big screen TV, DVD player, Wi-Fi service, comfortable queen size bed, oxygen, and private bathroom. There are no needles or injections in our sleep studies.

Carrus will schedule you to arrive at 7:30 pm or 8:00 pm for your sleep study preparation. Be sure to bring pajamas and toiletries. For your convenience, we have in-room shower, bathroom and towels. We do not provide any food service, so it’s important that you have had your evening meal before arriving to the sleep center. If you prefer, you can also bring some snacks. We do provide morning refreshments.

When you awake in the morning you are welcome to leave. Normally patients stay until 6 am.
