A sleep study, also called a polysomnogram, is a type of test used to diagnose and evaluate sleep disorders. During a sleep study in Carrus Health, patients are monitored overnight in a sleep lab while they sleep.
The data collected during a sleep study can help doctors identify the cause of a sleep disorder and determine the best course of treatment. Sleep studies are often used to diagnose conditions such as insomnia, obstructive sleep apnea, and narcolepsy.
They may also be used to assess the severity of a sleep disorder and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment. Sleep studies are painless and generally well-tolerated by patients. Most people find that they are able to sleep normally during the study.
Carrus Health provides wide range of imaging options that assist your provider in diagnosing your condition. Imaging refers to the process of creating pictures of what is inside the human body. This can be done in several ways, but the most common type of imaging is X-ray. During an X-ray, a small amount of radiation is passed through the body. The radiation is absorbed by different tissues at different rates depending on their density. This difference in absorption produces an image on a film or digital detector that can be viewed by a radiologist.
MRI and CT are other types of imaging that use electromagnetic waves and computer-generated tomography to produce images of the inside of the body. Imaging is a powerful tool that can be used to diagnose and treat many different medical conditions.
